This isn’t goodbye …

This month I don’t really have a whole lot to say or talk about, and I would be sorry (really, I would) except in less than three weeks’ time I’ll be on a three month holiday.

Yep … three months! On holiday … for three. Months!!!

Hubby, the kids, and I are taking our van and the new 70 Series Landcruiser, and hitting the road. We’re planning to travel from Sydney to Darwin, across to Broome, then home via Alice Springs. The past few weeks have seen me go through frantically finishing uni, making a million phone calls, enrolling the kids in distance education, cleaning the house like a crazy woman, freak out over what to pack (we’ll be in the same clothes for weeks), reading countless information websites, and having numerous fights with paper maps. I can never fold the damn things!

To put it into perspective, Sydney to Darwin is almost 4000km. Yikes! We’re all very excited, but as a consequence you won’t be seeing any posts from me until October. Rest assured this isn’t goodbye. I’ll have plenty to tell you all when I get back.

Now before I go, I just want to say that not only am I looking forward to some time away from Sydney and the stress of ‘normal’ life, but I’m also squealing inside at the thought of how much story inspiration is going to surround me on this trip, and how many ideas I’m going to come back with.

I better pack a notebook, or two.

K. A. Last has three months off work, and you can probably hear her squealing. She is the YA author of Sacrifice, Fall For Me, Fight For Me, and Immagica. She drinks lots of tea, is obsessed with Buffy, and loves all things purple (it used to be pink). K. A. Last hangs out on Facebook or you can find her on twitter and Goodreads. She’s also been known to blog once in a while.

    1. I’m sure there’s lots to see between Broome and Alice. I get goannas in my back yard, so they better move aside for all the other stuff 🙂
