Introducing… Katie Teller

Welcome back to Aussie Owned and Read!

So, this is me, Katie. I’ve been storytelling for a long time, but “writing” since High School.  I’ve been lucky enough to have my debut novel signed, and it will be released in April.

I’m a true blue westie bogan hahaha! And as an Aussie living in the US I’ll probably be your slang translator too! Westie Bogan = Someone who lives in Western Sydney who’s a bit of an Aussie version of a redneck, without a gun. No guns in Aus. Although admittedly, I’m a bit low on the bogan-ness compared to just about everyone else I grew up with. 🙂

My first story I ever wrote was when I was twelve. I still have it amazingly. It’s about a girl who goes on the run with her wild horse and saves lots of brumbies. I was twelve, don’t judge me. It turned into a series I worked on through 7-9th grades and the focus turned to boys, hot blond ones lol. But my first real serious one I wrote when I was seventeen. My first NA, pre-NA. The rest is history!

Anyways, my iccockatooon is… the cockatoo! Why? Well… herm… a cockatoo is a deceptive bird. A magnificent creature, with white, black or pink feathers and colourful crests, but then they open their beaks and… screech. Yes, screech. The most obnoxious sound you’ve ever heard and it’s very LOUD. I’m the same way. At first glance I don’t seem like much, just an ordinary person, until I open my mouth. I’m loud, especially my laugh, and when I have something to say, I have something to say! I also get competitive with singing and sports and my volume level increases to out do everyone.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not always loud. Usually I’m fairly quiet, just like a cockatoo.

So anyway… come back tomorrow to meet K. A. Last
